HEERF Student Aid

Due to the economic impacts of the lengthy pandemic, the U.S. Department of Education has allocated funds towards student aid called Higher Education Emergency Relief Funds (HEERF). You may have heard of some of these funds referred to as the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES Act), the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSAA), and the American Rescue Plan (ARP).


Northwest Indian College has issued an award for each student enrolled in undergraduate credits for Fall quarter.  This is an automatic award and you do not need to apply.

This award has automatically been disbursed to your NWIC Student Account. Please allow our Accounting department time to process your disbursement. Afterwards, you can check your JICS account to see the disbursement that has been processed. You can do this by going to and select Finances and Course and Fee Statement then Generate my Course and Fee Statement. You will be issued a payment in the form of a check. This will be noted on your statement as “PAID CHECK TO STUDENT.”


You can request to pick up your check from Lummi Campus by emailing Checks will not be available for same-day pickup. Please email Student Accounts if you would like to pick up your check. Otherwise, the check will be mailed.


NWIC is required to disburse these funds directly to the student. If you have a balance on your account that you would like this to go towards, please make a payment once you have received and deposited your check.
